When the wind is North Easterly our local beach at Lancing doesnt really work so we tend to travel to Greatstone, a superb kitesurfing beach. It is an hour and half drive but well worth it as is a huge 6 mile long beach that as the tide turns and the water depth decreases allows us to teach you in flat, shallow water.

Where to kite

Zones
Greatstone doesnt really have zones as such mainly as it is such a huge beach with space for all.

Most Kitesurfers tend to set up on the Greatstone beach road opposite the Tavern pub as there is a better stretch of sandy beach here. It is worth noting here that the tides head out nearly a mile in some places so pre checking of equipment is more than necessary!

Kitesurf club

There is no kitesurfing club for Greatstone at the moment.

Wind direction

Greatstone is East facing so the following wind directions work;

East – On Shore
North – Side Shore
North East – Cross on from the left
South East – Cross on from Left

Greatstone works best on a North Easterley and 2.5 hours after high tide.
